Επίθεση στο «Χαμόγελο του Παιδιού» και τον ιδρυτή του, Κώστα Γιαννόπουλο, υιοθετώντας δημοσιεύματα για τα οικονομικά στοιχεία της οργάνωσης, έκανε σε τηλεοπτική συνέντευξή της η υφυπουργός Εργασίας και Κοινωνικών Υποθέσεων, Δόμνα Μιχαηλίδου.

Υπενθυμίζεται ότι, τα στοιχεία που επικαλείται η κυρία Μιχαηλίδου, προκύπτουν από πρόσφατα δημοσιεύματα της εφημερίδας «Το ΒΗΜΑ», σύμφωνα με τα οποία ο πρόεδρος του «Χαμόγελου του Παιδιού», Κώστας Γιαννόπουλος, φέρεται να διαμένει σε διαμέρισμα-μεζονέτα έκτασης περίπου 500 τ.μ., με πέντε μπάνια, αξίας περίπου δύο εκατ. ευρώ, σε αμφιθεατρική περιοχή στον Αλιμο, το οποίο ωστόσο είναι κληροδότημα του οργανισμού από δωρεά μιας συνταξιούχου από τη Δράμα, που ήθελε να βοηθήσει παιδιά που είχαν ανάγκη.
Σύμφωνα πάντα με τα ίδια δημοσιεύματα, το 2018 εμφανίζονται καταθέσεις του «Χαμόγελου» σε ελβετική τράπεζα στη Ζυρίχη, ύψους 300.000 ευρώ, που έφτασαν λίγους μήνες αργότερα να έχουν ποσά ακόμα και της τάξης των πέντε εκατ. ευρώ. Το 2019, δε, τα έσοδα της οργάνωσης έφταναν στα 27 εκατ. ευρώ.
Το ίδιο το «Χαμόγελο», πάντως, έχει δώσει απαντήσεις στα σχετικά δημoσιεύματα, τονίζοντας, μεταξύ άλλων, ότι διατηρεί λογαριασμούς σε διάφορες τράπεζες στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό και ότι το 2019 ολοκληρώθηκε η πώληση του ξενοδοχείου «ΤΙΤΑΝΙΑ», με «Το Χαμόγελο του Παιδιού» να διαθέτει το μειοψηφικό πακέτο μετοχών. «Το ποσό των 15 εκατομμυρίων ευρώ που προέκυψε και για τη διασπορά κινδύνου αποφασίστηκε να μοιραστεί σε τρεις διαφορετικές τράπεζες, δύο στην Ελλάδα και μία στο εξωτερικό» ανέφερε σχετικά σε δελτίο Τύπου.
Ο κ. Γιαννόπουλος, δε, σε τηλεοπτικές του δηλώσεις στις 13/12, ανέφερε, μεταξύ άλλων: «Υπάρχει λογαριασμός στην Ελβετία, που άνοιξε από ίδρυμα της Ολλανδίας που ήθελε να μας στείλει χρήματα για να φτιαχτεί το σπίτι στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης. Μετά κατατέθηκαν τα 5 εκατ. από την πώληση των μετοχών του ΤΙΤΑΝΙΑ και στη συνέχεια τα χρήματα ήρθαν στην Ελλάδα. Να σας πω κι ένα νέο, έχει λογαριασμό και στο Λονδίνο».
Όσον αφορά στο αποθεματικό, υποστήριξε: «Αυτή η αφηρημένη λογιστική, υπάρχουν 6 εκατ. αποθεματικό… Όταν το Χαμόγελο κάνει έργο και στηρίζει 48.000 παιδιά, όταν το 2018 στηρίξαμε 90.000 παιδιά, όταν το 2019 στηρίξαμε 95.000 παιδιά, το 2020 στηρίξαμε 57.000 παιδιά και υπάρχουν υποδομές και λειτουργία 24 ώρες, γιατί δεν είμαστε δομή, είμαστε οργανισμός. Για το Χαμόγελο και για τη λειτουργία του είναι τρεις-τέσσερις μήνες ζωής».
