Ο συγγραφέας Σπύρος Πετρουλάκης που έγραψε και το βιβλίο «Σασμός», ήταν καλεσμένος στην εκπομπή «Δύο στη 1» και έδωσε πληροφορίες για τη συνέχεια της επιτυχημένης σειράς.
Ο συγγραφέας είπε αρχικά: «Το κοινό νομίζω ότι με έμαθε από τον “Σασμό” δεν μπορώ να το κρύψω αυτό. Τα βιβλία μου ήταν μέχρι ένα σημείο και ο κόσμος γενικά της ανάγνωσης είναι περιορισμένος αλλά όταν ένα βιβλίο βγει στην τηλεόραση μετά πάει σε όλα τα σπίτια πάει παντού».
Στη συνέχεια πρόσθεσε: «Δεν με φόβισε καθόλου. Πήγα πολύ συνειδητοποιημένα στη συνάντηση που έκανα με τον παραγωγό και ήξερα τι θα ακούσω και στα περισσότερα πράγματα συμφώνησα, σχεδόν σε όλα συμφώνησα στις αλλαγές. Γιατί στην αρχή υπήρξε μία συνεργασία με τη σεναριακή ομάδα, τι δομή θα ακολουθήσουμε, πως θα το πάμε, αν γίνει αυτή η αλλαγή και τελικά η ιστορία δείχνει ότι αυτό είχε μεγάλη επιτυχία αλλά όχι δεν αισθάνομαι καθόλου πίσω, είμαι μπροστά, είμαι δίπλα, αγαπώ πάρα πολύ τους ανθρώπους που δουλεύουν σκληρά για να γίνει το βιβλίο μου σήριαλ, να γίνει η ιστορία που έδωσα εγώ και να γεννήσει καινούριες ιστορίες και χαίρομαι πολύ γιατί το έχω πει και δεν διστάζω να το ξαναπώ το λέω και το πιστεύω ότι χαίρομαι πολύ που μέσα από αυτή τη δουλειά μέσα από τη δική μου δουλειά από τη δική μου έμπνευση εκατοντάδες άνθρωποι έχουν δουλειά».
Ο Σπύρος Πετρουλάκης μίλησε και τον ρόλο της Καλλιόπης που την υποδύεται η Μαρία Τζομπανάκη: «Η Καλλιόπη είναι η Κρητικιά μάνα, η γυναίκα της Κρήτης. Όπου και εάν πάω στην Κρήτη, όπου και εάν πάει η Μαρία Τζομπανάκη της λένε ότι είναι ίδια η μάνα τους, η θεία τους, η γιαγιά τους. Είναι φοβερό πράγμα! Η Καλλιόπη είναι η έννοια της Κρητικής φύσης. Στα βιβλία μου γίνομαι “μάνα”, γίνομαι κοπελάκι, γίνομαι “σκύλος, γίνομαι το λουλούδι που θα το πατήσει κάποιος ή θα το προσπεράσει. Όλα αυτά τα συναισθήματα τα λαμβάνω για να τα μεταδώσω. Είναι ακριβά, δεν μπορείς να τα αγοράσεις».

Εγώ είμαι πιστός στους χαρακτήρες, δεν μπορείς να δεις αλλαγές στους χαρακτήρες. Για παράδειγμα, η Θεοδώρα είναι κακιά! Ακόμα και η Μανταρίνα, το σκυλί που πέθανε στον τάφο του Πέτρου, εμείς το έχουμε δει αυτό, το έχουμε ζήσει. Μου βγήκε όλο τόσο αβίαστα που μόνο καλό έχει βγει από μέσα μου αυτό. Ο Αντώνης πώς θα γίνει καλά; Αφού η σφαίρα πέρασε από εδώ και βγήκε από εκεί. Πιστεύω ότι ο Αντώνης θα ζήσει, δεν έχω διαβάσει το σενάριο. Είναι ένας κωμικός ήρωας που μαζί με τον παπά και την αγάπη που υπάρχει θα προσπαθήσουν να φέρουν τον “Σασμό”».
