Ο Ολυμπιακός ανακοίνωσε και επίσημα την επιστροφή του Μίτσελ στο λιμάνι!
Ο Μίτσελ επιστρέφει μετά από επτά χρόνια στον Ολυμπιακό για να αναλάβει την τεχνική ηγεσία της ομάδας. Στις 15:15 είναι προγραμματισμένη η παρουσίασή του από τον Βαγγέλη Μαρινάκη, ενώ λίγες ώρες αργότερα θα κάνει την πρώτη του προπόνηση στο Ρέντη.
Η ΠΑΕ Ολυμπιακός ανακοινώνει την επιστροφή του Ισπανού προπονητή Μίτσελ. Ο 59χρονος, γεννημένος στις 23 Μαρτίου 1963, επιστρέφει στον ΟΛΥΜΠΙΑΚΟ με τον οποίο έγραψε σελίδες δόξας σε Ελλάδα και Ευρώπη.
Ο άλλοτε θρύλος της Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης και της εθνικής Ισπανίας καθοδήγησε τον Ολυμπιακό για μια χρυσή διετία (4/2/13 – 6/1/15), κατά την οποία σε 91 παιχνίδια είχε απολογισμό 65 νίκες, έντεκα ισοπαλίες και 15 ήττες.
Κατέκτησε δύο πρωταθλήματα (2012-2013, 2013-2014) και ένα κύπελλο (2012-2013), ενώ οδήγησε την ομάδα σε ορισμένες από τις σπουδαιότερες νίκες της στην Ευρώπη απέναντι σε αντιπάλους όπως η Μάντσεστερ Γιουνάιτεντ, η Ατλέτικο Μαδρίτης, η Γιουβέντους, η Μπενφίκα και η Άντερλεχτ. Με τον Μίτσελ στα ηνία οι πρωταθλητές έφτασαν στους «16» του Champions League, την αγωνιστική περίοδο 2013-2014. Το όνομά του έχει γραφτεί με χρυσά γράμματα στην ένδοξη ιστορία του Θρύλου μας.
Ο Μίτσελ ξεκίνησε την προπονητική του καριέρα από τη Ράγιο Βαγιεκάνο και ακολούθησαν τα τμήματα υποδομής της Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης, στα οποία εργάστηκε τόσο ως διευθυντής όσο και ως προπονητής της Castilla. Το 2009 ανέλαβε τη Χετάφε, εν συνεχεία τη Σεβίλλη και μετά τον Ολυμπιακό. Μετά την αποχώρησή του από την Ελλάδα δούλεψε στη Μαρσέιγ, στη Μάλαγα, στην Πούμας (Μεξικό) και ξανά στη Χετάφε.
