Χθες το απόγευμα στις 19:30 το Μακροχώρι Ημαθείας αποχαιρέτησε τον 35χρονο Ανέστη Αντωνόπουλο, ο οποίος αν και βρέθηκε στις λίστες με τους διασωθέντες μαθητές του τροχαίου δυστυχήματος το 2003 στα Τέμπη με τους 21 νεκρούς, ωστόσο μετά τα αλλεπάλληλα χειρουργεία και τις εντατικές ποτέ δεν κατάφερε ψυχολογικά να συνέλθει με αποτέλεσμα 22χρόνια μετά και συγκεκριμένα την περασμένη Κυριακή να δώσει τέλος στη ζωή του.
Ο 35χρονος όπως αναφέρει στο protothema.gr κάτοικος του χωριού προσπάθησε να πάει την ζωή του ένα βήμα παρακάτω μέσα από την δουλειά του καθώς εργαζόταν ως μόνιμος φύλακας αρχαιοτήτων όμως δεν τα κατάφερε :
«Λες και είχε μείνει για πάντα σε εκείνες τις στιγμές. Έκανε προσπάθειες και πολλές, όμως χωρίς ουσιαστικό αποτέλεσμα. Είχε χάσει με τόσο βίαιο τρόπο την αθωότητα του, που ενώ η εικόνα του ήταν μια χαρά η ψυχολογία του ήταν ίδια με ζωντανό – νεκρό. Λίγα χρόνια μετά χώρισαν και οι γονείς κι έμεινες αυτός με τον πατέρα του και οι αδελφές του με την μάνα τους. Έγιναν πολλά στην οικογένεια που ο Ανέστης δε μπόρεσε να διαχειριστεί».
Σύμφωνα με εκείνους που τον γνώριζαν καλά ο 35χρονος ήταν πάντα κλειστός χαρακτήρας, σπάνια μιλούσε και μοναχικός. Στην εργασία του ήταν πάντα τυπικός, όμως κι εκεί δεν ήθελε πολλά πολλά με τους συναδέλφους του.
Η κηδεία του 35χρονου τελέστηκε στον Ιερό Ναό Αγίου Γεωργίου με τις μνήμες από την μέρες τις εθνικής τραγωδίας του 2003 να ξυπνούν ξανά στο χωριό και τους γονείς των παιδιών που έχασαν την ζωή τους να πενθούν ξανά.
Ο νεαρός άνδρας έδωσε τέλος στη ζωή του με δίκαννο κυνηγετικό όπλο μέσα στο σπίτι του.

Οι μαθητές της Α’ Λυκείου Μακροχωρίου Ημαθίας, επέστρεφαν από εκδρομή στην Αθήνα, όταν το λεωφορείο τους συγκρούστηκε πλαγιομετωπικά με φορτηγό που μετέφερε μελαμίνες και νοβοπάν, στο ύψος των Τεμπών.
Μερικά από τα βαριά υλικά που μετέφερε το φορτηγό έπεσαν στο δρόμο, όμως κάποια άλλα χτύπησαν το λεωφορείο με τα παιδιά, κόβοντάς το στα δύο. Ο απολογισμός ήταν τραγικός: 21 μαθητές έχασαν τη ζωή τους και ακόμα έξι τραυματίστηκαν.
Το λεωφορείο διαλύθηκε, ενώ τα συνεργεία διάσωσης που έσπευσαν στο σημείο χρειάστηκαν περίπου δύο ώρες για να απεγκλωβίσουν τα τραυματισμένα παιδιά και να ανασύρουν τα νεκρά.
Οι εικόνες της απόλυτης τραγωδίας έκαναν αμέσως το γύρο της χώρας, που θρηνούσε τα αδικοχαμένα παιδιά, την ώρα που οι γονείς τους έψαχναν να τα βρουν ζωντανά ή νεκρά στα νοσοκομεία της Λάρισας και της Θεσσαλονίκης.
Η τελευταία πράξη του δράματος παίχτηκε την επόμενη μέρα στο νεκροταφείο του Μακροχωρίου όπου και οδηγήθηκαν στην τελευταία τους κατοικία οι αδικοχαμένοι μαθητές.
